WEll, tell you what, I'll defend Mr. Naylor's current trend in his comics, since no one else is.

If he is doing his comic right, then he is probably implementing "sexual tension". Meaning, the readers will probably expect to see those two go at it someday, but he is never going to have his characters actually "do it", but string the readers along anyway.

Case in point, remember the series "The X-Files"? The creaters used "sexual tension" alot to keep the viewers hooked. I'm sure there were many who actaully expected those two to at least kiss. But the producers had those two characters to remain close, but keep a professional distance from one another, yet always leave that iota og hope.

A. Once sexual tension is removed, a series usually goes belly-up, e.g. Moonlighting.

B. Mulder and Scully weren't siblings. :)

Not that I'm arguing in favor of incest but, really, it's an interesting notion in that it is basically considered "wrong" as an extension of the problems it can create with offspring and the general degredation of a gene pool. So, something that is fundamentally only "wrong" in the sense of preventing genetic complications.. and not truly morally wrong in the way that murder or theft is.. is considered morally offensive.

It's really like eating foods that aren't kosher.... it's not tehcnically wrong or anything.... but at some point in history, it was recognized as a very bad idea (unclean foods like pork, at the time, being subject to causing disease since they didn't have modern preservation/refrigeration/etc.).... so, a few folks got together and convinced everyone God said don't eat pork, don't eat crayfish, don't fuck your sister... and so, now, it's viewed as a moral atrocity.

Not that I'm defending it. It's just interesting to think about how something that isn't really that bad on the scale of things has been ranked so highly on the list of offenses.

Sexual tension they had, yes. But their characters also had something together that was more important and could only be brought out by a talented writer; "chemistry".

Well, in regards to the comic and it's past history, I suppose the real question to ask is: If those two ever "do the deed", being concenting adults and all, will Mr. Naylor actually draw out the scene?
