And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love

She's a rescue from the petstore I used to work at, she's got some sort of skin condition that makes her skin really easily agitated (even moreso, because she's a 'hairless' which is what I think you actually meant by the buzzcut comment.) and she keeps slicing her head open when she scratches. When I first got her she looked like she had been completely scalped. :/

See?

But.. she got better. Kinda. Anyway, the reason she kinda has some fur? She's a crossbreed, her mother was a hairless, her father was what's called a 'dumbo' which is why she has those huge ears. She's actually an expensive rat, even though I got her for free because I just happened to stick her in my pocket and walk off with her. :)

Ah ok, no this is what I was refereing to as the buzzcut... it seemed she had VERY short fur but not completely hairless.

Oh that sucks.

Ill probably be getting pet rats (and other rodents) at some point. I just don't quite have the time to be taking care of any pet and would rather wait till im a bit more settled.

I really want a rat, but there are no rodents allowed here (dogs, cats, birds, yes, but no rodents? wtf.. like they are really going to have a mass NIMH like escape and go out and start breeding) and my roommate is a goody-two-shoes...

It's incredible how fast they learn, and if they are raised (eg. the time before you buy) in a proper low-stress, high novelty enviroment they are just the sweetest things.

That and also, I aint lying.. I like boozin.. and theres only two pets you can have that you can actually booze with (to my knowledge)

Rats and dogs

Rats are like the only animal other than humans that actually like drinking alcohol and getting fucked up. =)

A local bar I used to go to, some guy used to bring his dog with him all the time and buy the dog pints of guinness :)

LOL, too funny.. I dunno if I'll INTRODUCE a drink to a rattie when I get one eventually but if he/she wants a sip, hey, I'm no rat abolishionist! My (non blood related) aunt tells a story of how when she was growing up (they had alot of critters, a raccoon for instance, it went wild eventually, as they tend to do) they had a rat which would grab a cigarette, take a bite out of it, sit there and chew away... it's no wonder they use rats to test substances for addictive potential!

Hehe yeah, far as i've always understood it was just common knowledge. Rats naturally like alcohol. Particularly beer.

Probably cuz they scavenge for food, they would be eating fermenting fruits and stuff on occassion. The Dropkick Murphys wrote that tune "Good Rats" about the Guinness breweries. I guess way back, rats would constantly get into the vats, end up drinking too much and die. When they cleaned the brewing tanks they found piles of bones and stuff at the bottom. When they cleaned it out , people didnt like it as much (go fig). They had to add something to guiness to add a flavor that wasnt animal carcasses in it. or something... thats what I heard anyway. I like Guinness a lot , tho I think I wouldnt drink it if it had dead animals in it, today :)
