Post subject: New forum layout? |
|
|
It may take a bit to get used to, but not so bad. I just noticed though that the memberlist can no longer be sorted by total posts/top posters. How am I supposed to validate reaching 1500 posts if I can't view my postcount alongside others? |

It's different, but I like it. When it first popped up I was afraid it was a glitch and we'd been hacked again. =) |

Coonlogo's BG is all white! How am I to find the exact surrounding gray when I make new uns?
Edit: My cataracts just got worse and I cut my tongue on the pancakes! =) |

There's a way to use the eyedropper tool in photoshop to sample any color in you browser window or onscreen:)
EDIT: I forgot how though :(
EDIT #2: Here we go...
Another tip is that you aren't limited to the colors in your document when you're using the eyedropper tool! You can pick colors from other visible documents, from the Photoshop interface - even from other applications as long as you can see them on the screen! As long as you start in your document and click-and-hold with the eyedropper tool, you can then drag outside of the document to anywhere in your window and pick a color.

The old layout looks good.. the other symbols were like yankee flags! Red, white.. and gray...

The new layout is a lot more compact and saves on bandwidth - BUT! It has a stupid glitch in thread view so I've left off making it the default for now.
Edit: You can select it on your profile. |

I dont know what the software allows... but most of the time I read the forum, Im not logged in.. so, if possible, you might want to make it the default for people not logged in. I have my profile set to view the new format, but obviously its not there until i go to post something. So most of the time Im viewing the higher bandwidth version. |

Yeah, I think I'll do that. If you see any glitches, BTW, please post them in this thread, preferably with a link to a screenshot.
EDIT: Stop using avatars bigger than 100 x 100 because it RUINS THE LAYOUT *sobs* |

I'm sorry! I didn't know there was a size limit. I had been trying to keep it within a reasonable size, but it was still bigger than that. Now it's 100X96. Itty bitty sized!
Please stop crying now. =( |

Shouldn't someone tell Hirtes about the avatar bits? |

There's a LOT of things Hirtes should probably be told. :) |

I like this new format. It's very clean and pretty. I'm a fan of clean layouts and GUIs. It gives a high-tech look, while not putting form above function.
And I have noticed that indeed it loads quicker. |

Seriously, though, the larger avatars and screen names haven't harmed the layout on my end. If it is indeed a problem I'll resize mine down. |

Can't the admin choose to block avatars over a certain size? No need to ask nicely if it can be done by sheer brute programming!
Like many new things, it took a little while to get used to this new layout... but I like it. Nice and simple. |

Any screens of large avatars messing up the format? 150 pixel width images don't seem to stretch the tables, and large height images don't appear to misalign anything (though they do make short posts too damn long). |

I'm pretty sure he meant that the avatar table is only 100 pixels, I can't find an entire page with everyone posting uses 100 or less sized avatars. |
