There's some people here who had a direct hand in this, so perhaps I'm not the most informed person to start this discussion. Anyway, Sibe just released the tantalizing trailer:

Sibe's the one on the bed pouring shots. :)

And that cheezy background music, just adds to the air of desperation in the whole thing too..

Because our opinions are fake.

If the fandom was the best thing to happen to these people, what were their lives like before it? Did furries cure their cancer? At the end of the day, they're still antisocial lonely goofy-looking people - but today, they wear dog collars. Now you're moving up in the world, babe!

If I was making an appearance in a propaganda video meant to bait people into the furry trap, I would damned well be articulate. "It's just fun....really!" is insufficient :x How are they going to bring about the End Times with such shoddy PR monkeys?

This is one of the funniest and creepiest things I've seen in a long while. The bizarre music is what really makes it though :)

Wait..... this is meant to be pro-furry? Seriously?

Actually, from what I understand, it's supposed to make fun of furries. At least that's what the guy told me; the maker posts on here occasionally as Kitsune Kiyoshi, I think.

I can't get the video to work on my computer, but I'm reasonably sure they're some choice shots of me being a complete tool in there.

edit: Actually, no, just talked to the filmmaker. I don't think he's trying to make fun of furries so much as just present a fair but snarky look at them. Which won't be nearly as much fun. Not sure what the market is for furry docs that aren't either gushing praise or showcasing complete freakshows, but I guess we'll see.

Were you the guy on the couch with Micah? If so, this trailer makes you seem enthusiastic about the fandom.

Yes, that would be me. knowing that I turn into a wildly dramatic faggypants whenever someone turns a camera on me, I can't say I'm surprised about that.

I expect many image macros to come out of this. Also, an imminent banning.

Well I mean, you can't have a balanced look at the fandom without making them seem like desperate freaks as a majority, it's a fact of life. There's no way to make them seem like weirdoes without sugar-coating it, which would defeat the purpose of a documentary. Either way, very lolfull and I hope it pisses off as many people as it can. (Without trying.)

Delicious, delicious propaganda. I certainly do hope this turns from "It's where all the cool people hang out with their friends!" to "OH GOD THE HORROR" real quick-like.

That's pretty much the one thing that stuck out to me in the video.

THAT ONE SHIRT.

Enjoy weed, eh? I sense a hidden agenda.

For example, in the Sibe interview the interviewer is made to take a vodka shot per each question asked.

As long as it paints furries with the light of truth and can be seen someplace besides a furcon, then maybe.

I turned Voyager off from the very first episode. I guess that's why I still like the Borg.

In fact, I've turned off all Star Trek since TNG. I'm such a has-been geek.

Now that I watched it again, I can't possibly imagine how this documentary can end up NOT sucking. You can't just ask a bunch of furries what they think of the fandumb; yes they make themselves look sad, but nowhere near the amount they should.

I don't think "macro" - as used to apply to an image with text - is a furry thing. Just a messageboard thing. :P (And I actually thought the same thing at first, until my fiance enlightened me...)

A macro is any kind of shorthand script, really, it's just a somewhat outdated and rarely used term. Like the auto-insult on Duke Nukem 3D referred to the ability to call everyone a loser with the touch of a key as a macro. Image macroes dated back to the time when certain messageboards would have things like the Timeline Of History available as a quick command.

They can be added as smilies, but that tends to destroy the "view more emoticons" window by breaking the tables more thoroughly than I broke your mom's hymen.

It's from some game on C64, and YTMND gave itself another enema so I lost all the views and votes it had. It used to have 15000+ views and a 3.9+ rating. :?

Faggotry-edit: Nevermind, that was for my other YTMND, using the Fucking Furries animation.

...the only thing people remember Harold Faltermeyer for.

Claim To Fame: The guy who did Axel F. Harold Faltermeyer was Giorgio Moroder's in-house studio programmer during the 70's "disco" phase. Cleverly invested his earnings into the legendary "Fairlight" sampling system, and went into soundtrack work.

Massive smash success with Axel F single, which is the "theme" from Beverly Hills Cop (1984). Also responsible for Fletch (1985) and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), The Running Man (1987) and Tango and Cash (1989).

I still have my old Fletch cassette somewhere, because I absolutely loved his strange 'Exotic Skates' song, as well as 'Digging In', the 'Not the Fletch theme music, but the cool instrumental music during the parts where Fletch was doing something or other'.

I broke down and encoded them at one point, and they sounded like shit. :(

Come to think of it, Kim Wilde (Kids in America, You Keep Me Hangin' On) had a pretty damn good song on this, too. Where'd I put that tape?

Distracting for about five seconds, maybe. Why did you disable them? Dial-up?

Also: Am I the only person that associates avatars with the people that use them?

Also: Am I the only person that associates avatars with the people that use them?

Depends, are you a katana weilding young man, who was raised in traditional Japanese style and is destined to shout "Yaoiiiiiiiii!"?

Also, I think Stoneth isn't actually a wolf.

Ooooh. So it was an animated GIF. Good thing I've disabled them. :)

You've disabled animated gifs? That's no fun. How could you enjoy Creature's YappyDance avatar or Rankin's edited MG3 avatar?

Er, why enjoying them? Those things are distracting.

Distracting for about five seconds, maybe. Why did you disable them? Dial-up?

Also: Am I the only person that associates avatars with the people that use them?

Nah, I disabled them 'cause they were annoying. It's harder for me to concentrate in a text or whatnot if things (like banners) are dancing around trying to catch my attention. Besides, they add -nothing- at all to the contents of a website, with veeeery counted exceptions, so I just leave them off.

Even if I use Mozilla with its ad blocking technology coupled with the excellent AdBlock extension (probably the best invention since 1/43 scale diecast cars), I just don't like animated GIFs. That's all.

That could be argued whether you're talking about the one typing this message or if you treat "Stoneth" as a character that someone created.

I don't think Rankin is a furry version of The World from Magical Drop III but I do tend to associate avatars with people on this board, particularly if that avatar is of a personal character created by the user like with Banrai, Donny, and a few other furries on here.

I'd say that he's a card. A white wolf with blue hair. Always making the anime sweat drop and everything..

Avatar association is deceptive. If you remember my old hag avatar from before, I use it currently on another forum and people assumed I was female.

Also, I know people who have 'wise old sage' looking avatars who were complete immature asses. Likewise, some of the most profound people I have met online have flashy stupid avatars.

It's a matter of expression, like what you where. Don't assume because I wear black that I like Nightwish, and I won't assume that since you wear a sports jersey that you lack intelligence.

I guess I meet half the criteria. I'm a young man that would like to learn to weild a sword.

I started taking classical fencing classes a few days ago. That shit's hell on your legs. Fun stuff though, if you ignore the fact that you look like a fat ballerina poking a stick at someone else.

I speak from experience here. Fencing is lame.

Kendo is they way it should be. And kendo hurts. Fighting is supposed to hurt, what's the point of fighting if you have to hold back so you don't injure someone?

I've never been able to take fencing seriousley since I found out my boss did it.

Then again, he's a flaming gay guy who's wife left him because he loved his showdogs more than her.

Anyone want to take a guess as to who my favorite character from Soul Calibur II is?

He also has the single best weapon demonstration out all the other characters. Fencing is merely a sport. It's like ballet with wire swords. Not that it takes away the coolness of real genuine rapiers.

I've just uploaded a new avatar. Admire my superb art, the quality of the line, the gracility of the expression, the clearliness of the spoken text, the detail of the background, and, or course, the luminosity of the carefully chosen colors.

I know I shouldn't lose the time with inferior beings as you all are, but, you know, I'm a generous person after all (apart of being a frustrated elitist antifur) so I'll share all my genius with you, and FREE, but only this time.

OK, jokes apart, I was silly, and found very funny the frustrated elitist antifur part. And besides, this is my post #500 so I wanted to celebrate it. :)

Micah is obviously more refined; her lineage has a powerful, lasculine jaw, and unless she plucks her eyebrows, they're not bushy or growing into a unibrow. Obviously, she came from the other cousin.

I'm taking MARTIAL fencing. Which means it teaches more about how to stick people so they die instead of scoring points. The emphasis though is on defense, so you don't die first.

Also, kendo is for japanophile queers who think katanas are TEH BEAST SORDS ON THE WORLD. All I ever see in kendo are those burqua-clad morons rigidly waving sticks at each other in an attempt to make the other guy back off, which they always do. It's crap.

My ultimate goal is spanish and italian rapier, which is ALOT more "fighty" than foil or epee, since you can just knock people down in your spare moments if you want to. You can't bring that shit into Olympic tournaments, they'll think you're insane. :D

But what are the chances you'll fight someone in the street who wants to fence? ...actually that'd be pretty awesome :(

Sounds like you've never delt with even a halfway decent one. And I don't mean the shit that's sold at your average knife, tackle, bait, and oil change shop. A good katana feels like an extention of the arm, light and strong, and sharp enough to cut a peice of falling paper. The ones you find at a knife shops are, at best, cheap peices of shit. Hell, even my claymoore is better those peices of junk and it's built to hack and slash through people.

Competition kendo is different from grading kendo. You only need to make a clear hit to score a point, so fast little unblocked blows are normal. In grading kendo you need to hit in such a way that if it were a live blade it would pierce armour. Grading kendo is also about doing the moves perfectly, like kata. You end up practising the same cut for decades.

None of the people I train with are japanophile queers, the only japanophile queer I ever saw came in saying he tried fencing but didn't like it and wanted to "spar" with us. He was an idiot and left immediately.

Maybe kendo where you live is different. Here the last time I fought defensively I got taken apart, the other person just charges in and hits as hard and fast as possible, leaves you exhausted and then scores.
In the end though, I think martial fencing is as useful as kendo. It's a martial art, but it's not self-defence. It very rare to have a sword handy if someone is trying to mug you in the street. It can really be only a sport, and never goes into application.

That would actually be a model that I made in high school, out of papier mache and Super Sculpy, of one of my earlier anthro characters. Before I knew what "furry" was.

Except I don't think Hannbal liked to watch Geeky Chinchilla boys pop out eggs from his ass.

I would find it much funnier if they came from his dick, instead. Especially if it made the end explode when it exited.

Link plz.

Conceptually though, it's shaping up to be much less of the furry 'Trekkies' (never my intention, anyway) and more of a furry 'Michael Moore Hates America'.

That was shrug-worthy even over VNC with eight-bit color and no sound.

Of course, much of this thread is more amusing when seen while the XAnalogTV screen saver is playing.

I really need to find a way to put this video on endless loop and put it to that screen saver as input.

Ya, this "documentary" is going to try to suger-coat the fandom up the ass and back. Do not watch unless you want to see someone defend XYDEXX... on VIDEO.... Ok, I gotta see this.

Good GOD...

Any and all respect I may have once had for this guy is right out the window... I think we can all rest assured though that this thing will never see the light of day... I mean just look at the shitty asian headphones and dangling wires. If it does get made, I will have to hunt someone down and smack them.

<Edit> and furthermore...

"Xydexx has stood out as the fandom's voice of reason... even when he was standing alone. He convinced me to actually start something and come up with real solutions rather than continuing to complain about bad press and furthering the policy of silence and isolationism in the face of the media."

If anyone deserves a "Furry Fan" card, it's this sad "Kiyo Ouchida" fuck. He's KISSING ASS TO XYDEXX TO GET MONEYS TO MAKE FURRY PROPOGANDA FILMS for christsakes. This offends me not only as a bitter ex-furry, but as a cineast seeing the art form I live for being horribly assraped to produce... FURRY PROPOGANDA FILMS.

Well, isn't that why we're all here? Because Xydexx is as reasonable as they come?

I hate to say, but I saw this one coming. Sane furries just can't make 'unbiased documentaries'. Furries with the brainworms, however, have the liberty of ignoring most of furry - their 'unbiased' means uninsulting sycophantic propaganda. Come on, people, if the 'furry Michael Moore flick' didn't give you a clue...

I want to show how furry isn't a unilateral fandom<...> but rather a centrifugal one

If that means 'where everyone flees from the center', okay.

<2 the Gryphon is> loud, funny, subversive, and even SA goons think he's cool.

YEAH. ON BIZARRO WORLD.

Xydexx has stood out as the fandom's voice of reason

BEST DOCUMENTARY EVAR A++++++++

Maybe he could get Postvixen/etc. to do something lewd with a copy of The Gay Science for that bit. Maybe, considering how many furries are willing to suck cock to be noticed, something unintentionally hilarious is going to slip in. There'll need to be a pretty decent screening system. Else he'll get the 200 pound guy in overalls and Depends helping make the fandom 'legitimate' - while Silfur humps the couch.

And that, of course, makes me wonder: How is Kitsune Kiyoshi going to meet his stated goal of making "a film about furry fandom that will stand in the eyes of furs everywhere as an accurate and beneficial account"? "Accurate" and "beneficial" being largely incompatible when it comes to furry fandom, I assume the key words are "in the eyes of furs", i.e. not accurate at all. LIES AND CIRCUMSTANCE!

Now I want to see it more than ever. If it's anything like the trailer then it's going to be hilarious even if it doesn't want to be. Xydexx must be whole another person off internet because I think he's crazy. I'll wait until the thing actually get done before I pass judgement.

So, did Kitsune lie to you New Meat? I'm getting such impression from this thread. Drama. pwned

Oh my... I'm not sure what happened, but I think Mr. Ouchida's plot of sychophantic nice guy fanjobbing is starting to slip up just a bit:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/kitsune_kiyoshi/29859.html?thread=126883#t126883

I am trying, I'm really trying and to do something good for the fandom after it's been fucked over, agian and agian and agian and all I get is this venom and lies, all these lies spewed at me by insecure people like you. I'm starting to think that nothing could possibly be worth this.

Well... this project was certainly short lived... I better save this before he takes a page from his squeaky role model and deletes everything... Anyone know what this was all about?

<edit> Wait, he hates CYD now?

I'll say it one last time. I know that I am a good person. If we had ever actually met you would know that. I've never hurt anyone, I've never said anything negative about any subgroup of furry other than Crush Yiff Destroy, and I don't hate anyone other than Bush.

For the last time I have babyfur FRIENDS. I think cub art is CUTE.

Further down the spiral. If this thing comes out it could be more hilarious and cause more damage to furry than anything past.

This is supposed to draw people into furry. There's a lot of furry that can't possibly be presented in a good light, cub art being just one shining example. Either he cuts a lot of this material out, or he scares away a lot of potentially interested parties. Better yet - like Merlino's alleged ConFurance advertising, Kiyo here could attract more of the same people who've been dragging the fandom through the mud for a decade.

Paul's exactly right. Either Kiyo ignores most of the sub-subculture, or he gives an accurate all-encompassing picture that shows the freak show most furries even try to ignore. Either way, some group is getting stepped on - either it lumps the perverts in with the respectable artists, gamers, and socialites, or leaves the perverts out completely. If he wants the truth... the truth is, in general, furry is a fragmented collection of fans, fetish queens, and those on social welfare. The fans don't like the freaks. The freaks don't care for the fans. And the welfare cases cling to whoever will support them. It's obvious he won't give an accurate description, Kiyo's sucking up too hard and trying to make too many friends to suggest any group of furries is actually universally hated, even by other furries!

I've never hurt anyone, I've never said anything negative about any subgroup of furry other than Crush Yiff Destroy, and I don't hate anyone other than Bush.

He's politically ignorant but sensitive to the feelings of furries. He's good at sucking up to whoever he wants something from. And maybe in the end it'll turn out he loves CYD and this is just his way of getting into the darkest recesses of furrydom with a camera, but still - he's trash. And his project is mired in drama before it's even started.

Eh. When you're doing this kind of work, you have to suck up to A LOT of people. He's just trying to get people to talk to him, and he's doing what he has to do to make that happen. A good reporter never has any dignity. Don't take it seriously.

This would be my guess.

Why bother? It's already crap.

ALSO, what's with those strange looking marks/holes in the wall behind him? Does this guy live in some kind of ghetto low-income housing and have a 3000$ camera and all this supposedly high-end equipment?

I missed this the first time around since I kind of skimmed past his list, but this bears commenting on:

#8: Carroll Spinney

The man behind big bird, mentor to Rapid T. Rabbit, and inspiration to furries everywhere. It's probably slightly more likely I could reach him now that he's written a book and gone on talk shows... but I wouldn't bet on it. Still, I don't know any other celebrity who's prescence could add more legitimacy to the film and to the fandom as a whole.

Whoa, back the bus up. They've claimed Big Bird as one of their own, now? I certainly hope somebody warns Mr. Spinney just who he'd be associating himself with.

It's simple, really. I want to make a film about furry fandom that will stand in the eyes of furs everywhere as an accurate and beneficial account...

Mutually fucking exclusive.

He ranks Postvixen and Xydexx as heroes? BWAHAHAHA!

Not like he doesn't misportray others...

Naturally, the audience will ask, "Why would someone like a 40 year old scientist run a cartoon animal convention?"

Starts with an 'f' ends with an 'etish'.

I want to explore the old saying: "Ask 10 furries what furry means to them, and you'll end up with 11 answers".

Yes, those answers being:

-Babyfur
-Cub 'Art'
-Gay Orgy
-Macro
-Vore
-Body Paint
-Bondage
-Druggyism
-Fursuit Sex
-Any Sex
-Herms

How on Earth can one make a furry documentary WITHOUT mentioning the rampantly large sexual side of the fandom?

Huh, so that's what all you jokers look like.

Anyway, he's gonna get bitten in the ass really, really quickly if he makes nice to one group only to turn around and bad-mouth them to the other. It will be interesting to see if the film makes it past the production stage without derailing.
