This is insane and it popped up at the /dis/ board at fchan. I searched around for some corroborating evidence and couldn't find jack. Anything to add to this? True/False?

I don't know if any of you guys are here too but I've got some very disturbing and very troubling news to report from the con. During an open question session during a panel someone asked why some people have a problem with furries. Instead of getting answer or a discussion he was instead brutally assaulted and attacked by other con attendees! He was rushed, beat on, and slammed to the floor before con staff intervened. What the con staff did is equally shocking, they made him get up and kicked him out of the con! They did nothing to reprimand the other con goers who assaulted him. As if this wasn't bad enough as is some people had the audacity to not only stand there and take pictures but also videotaped the attack! Stills from this attack are being spammed repeatedly on Gaia.

There has also been a rash of vandalism all week long by both con goers and con staff. People have been destroying and defacing anything that can be remotely considered to be associated with furry fandom. I personally witnessed one con staff member drawing the words "fur f*gs" on a small taped up print out advertsing a get together for furries at the con. When asked what he was doing he told me point blank to mind my own damn business.

This is all very disgusting and goes to show Otakon is no longer the fur friendly place it once was. I urge anyone that was there and that witnessed any such acts to e-mail the Otakon organizers about this. Just write what you feel abd be professional about it. Shouting and being obscene with them won't accomplish anything.

That's the fursecution furry dramatics have been lusting for all they're lives. Now they could lawsuite for real! Not that i condone this but i would like to see those stills. But seriously, if this is true, it's funny. Could be anime/manga fans are tired of putting up with the slowly creeping touch of furry edging it's way towards their intrests, as any anime/manga with anything fur tends to draw furrys inwards..and from what I've seen, anime/manga fans have allways prided themselfs on being far more sane and far more "with it" then furries anyway.

For one, you'll see far more females, most of them viable looking at one big anime con then you will at a year of fur cons. And the most of them aren't blood sucking leeches, looking to profit from the lusts of males. (See also Bushycat, Terrie Smith, etc)

Furries tend to ruin anything they get around and take ahold of and most anime fans are just getting used to being able to wear shirts and stuff without getting snorted at, with the rapid mainstream attention the anime/manga fandoms have gotten over the last 20 years, starting thanks to Robotech/Kimba/Votron in the 80's and DBZ/Cowboy Bebop/Sailor Moon in the 90's.

Remember, Japan allways takes things way beyond what NA fans do. It's a major part of the culture there, never mind a huge ass moneymaker. And anime fans are nowhere near furrys on the geekdom ladder. I'd say lolikun fans maybe, but even they hate furrys.

I call bullshit on this one. The comments were made anon, and nothing to back it up. The one pic could have been about anything.

If someone posted a vid which showed what was going on or a lot of posters with corroberating statements, then that would be convincing.

Otherwise this seems like just another anon troll to whip the furries into a frenzy.

So apparently this was started over at the guys by 4chan (during their panel, perhaps?) so it's probably a fair guess to assume this was staged.

If it was true and cameras were present then they would at least have photographed the guy being complimented off the con.

I just talked to a friend who has actually been to the convention. She has seen nothing unusual. There were furries, trekkies,otakus and pete knows what. But no drama, riots or what so ever.

As if facts matter to furry drama queens. Compare to how this type of furry likes to misinterpret and misrepresent anything that goes on at CYD, claming we hate them. Most likely Mr. Anonymous Furry came across that blurred photo that shows whatever, and decided it was enough to base a nice little "fursecution" drama story on. Some furries really seem to like the idea of being persecuted - after all, the worst thing that can happen to weirdoes is being ignored; being kicked in the butt means someone acknowledges your sorry existence.

The fact that anyone would be upset by this is very silly... I was at the panel where this happened, and it was so obviously staged. There were furries in the audience cheering along with the rest, knowing full well what was going on around them.

The con in itself was such a breeding ground for crazies that furries were barely even noticed (and they were very obvious to those who cared-- who else would wear a custom made badge of their animal character that obstructs the view of their real con badge?), and some people even made rounds dressed as 'Furry Hunters', posing in fight photos with furres for fun and laughs.

Sick highlight of my weekend: hearing a furry call a normal Baltimore passerby a "mundane" out loud, and having normal anime fans congradulating them for it. If that isn't the antithesis of an otaku-furry fued, I don't what what is.

It looks like this was aimed at the 4chan folks: someone trying to stir up trouble between Furries and 4chan-ers. It also looks like they failed again, as the thread about this at fchan was thread stopped quickly. The /dis board over at 4chan has been under a spam bomb attack all weekend leading up to this.
