Well, I have to say I am NOT happy to see that drug possession and usage goes on at ANY kind of convention and AM surprised it happens among furs given their general obsession with spending what little money they have solely on furry as opposed to let's say deodorant, soap, or drugs, prescription or otherwise.

Seems pretty cut and dried that it happened by their own claims.

What DOESN'T surprise me is to see the ineffective and insanely unprofessional way it was handled. Once someone brags openly that they brought drugs to a con in the past, that con leadership should ask that person for a signed and notarized letter promising not to do it ever again or be banned from that con indefinitely as they've only admitted to something they may have been lying about to begin with but it is nevertheless a damning admission to make, even in jest.

If they are actually caught at the con with illegal drugs, those people should be handed over to the local authorities immediately.

As amusing and peculiar the idea of already brain cell deficient furries killing more brain cells may be, and as appealing the concept of furries going down in a spiral of drug decadence might be, it's nonetheless not something we should stand for.

Saying that rave drugs makes furries more normal is like saying those who don't go around engaging in that behaviour are somehow abnormal. Getting screwed up on drugs might be common, but is not to be taken as normal and acceptable.

Thats cuz most of em are into all this techno dance music shit,

raves and E and DDR and pacifiers and glo-sticks all go right along with that. (It IS more normal people - but I fuckin hate that whole scene with a passion)

It would be better if they were just drinking more and smoking weed, and leaving the E - touchy feely shit out of it. If you know what E does it should be no surprise at all it has shown up at furry parties. seriously.

I used to listen to people saying that same sort of "marijuana's not a bad thing" line oh, well over twenty years ago now. Roughly half are DEAD from overdoses of more powerful drugs the pot leads to, from just plain fucked up health thanks to their pot obsession, and from criminal events. The other half are divided into three fourths ongoing losers and the remaining one fourth of one half, are almost clean and almost tolerable.

Sorry, I ain't gonna buy that weed is okay crap. I watched the drug revolution up close and personal. My home town smoked enough grass to fertilize a farm and snorted enough coke to ski on. The kids I grew up with by the time of fifteen had a very high incidence of use of the above as well as LSD, amphetamines, bariturates. It always began with alcohol abuse followed then by POT. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME. Drunk leads to high, high leads to more high, more high leads to less smart, less smart leads to brain dead idiot.

I find it ironic that people who are against tobacco smoking are so frequently in favor of marijuana usage when it is medically proven to have the same if not worse drawbacks from the consumption of combustion byproducts. And it makes people idiots on top of it.

Remember kids, you aren't birds. Your brain cells are NON-REGENERATIVE. Getting married and having kids will destroy enough of them. You don't need to get a head start and increase the damage.

I'm not right wing. Also, it's a war on drugs, not a war on marijuana. More than just herb is being sent across the caribbean to here.

Weed's hardly a priority. It's the coke runners and meth labs they want to bust down.

And taxing a legalized marijuana would probably bring in very little revenue for the government. They actually make more by busting shipments of the stuff, and I think they have a lot more fun doing that than anything else.

ps; there is no 'smaller government' party anymore, unless you count the libertarians, but they're lol

By the time Nancy Reagon gave the whole just say no to drugs sermon. I was smoking weed five or six times a day and listening to a lot of YES and King Crimson. My usage has gone down a bit and I don't smoke any in the states but every now and then some of my buddies and me head down to Amsterdam and have a grand time. As for pot being a gateway drug, I don't know I never tried any other drug ever never appealed to me. And Wayd you got to chill out man, it's like no one can say anything around you without you getting pissed off big time.

The guy in the mask is Cobalt 60, Bodé's future apocalypse anti-hero. The series ran in the magazine Galaxy in the 70s, and was collected in book form by Donning/Starblaze in 1988, with additional art by Larry Todd and Mark Bodé, Vaughn's son. Todd and Mark Bodé also made a two-issue Cobalt 60 comic published by Tundra in 1992.

Mark Bodé has some info on his late father on this section of his site, along with excerps from Vaughn Bodé's comics.

As for the design of Wizards, I can't recall if Bode worked on the film. But the guy on the Wizards poster does rather look like Cobalt 60, doesn't he? ART THIFT!
