How about a section detailing the worst pictures/prints sold on furbid and how much they go for?

*shudders* I took a look at Furbid and saw a utterly horrendous piece whose artist shouldn't have been let near a pencil never mind allowed to scan it, the reserve price was sky high....

Viz..

Adult content following...

http://www.furbid.ws/cgi-bin/auction.pl?print_adultfur&1066102500 <===the reserve price to $200..some moron is required to have more money then sense to touch this.

http://www.furbid.ws/cgi-bin/auction.pl?yiff&1066253439 <==this would win my vote for the all time worst EVER piece of yiff art...

actually thats the "buy it now $200" and thats for the original print
if you read it , anyone who bids gets a print on card stock for a set price of $5
shes doing it as a dutch auction without setting up the auction that way
basically if you want a print, just outbid whoever..its allthe same price, everyone will get one

lol

im sure it will sell even at $7

furries are way to quick to try to get into producing art tho
thats why there is shit like this and terribly drawn webcomics

no criticism whatsoever

no ones gonna improve thier art if they are not being told that either they suck or to be nice about it, what they gotta work on

I didn't read it properly...I was just trying to get away from the awful sight..I still don't see why anyone would pay $200 even for the original....I wouldn't even pay $5 for a print :?

Mind you I hear on guy pasted a ferret and human photos together then wanted $100 for it as a minimum bid, then was amazed it didn't sell..I wonder why :P most furry's are dumb but not even they are that stupid :P than again...

God I wanted to sell a few pieces on there, but It'll get lost in the crap art and spooge...I wish there was a site for people who like drawing anthros but avoid all the porn and who actually know how to draw :P

And I thought VCL was bad....the worst thing is if they sell the junk, they'll think they are good which means more shit produced...

if it aint spooge sell it in the pg13 sections of furbid

they get a lot of traffic there
if people like it theyll buy it

if you draw anthro you know that people there are going to be more prone to liking your art

i would just say use it since its a free service

What about Yerf?? That's definitely a completely clean site.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think that Talbona "tiger at the seashore" pic is nearly bad enough to qualify. I'd even say that it'd downright decent. Not great, mind you, but not half bad.

hehe

i was actually gonna say something like that

i think she only mentioned it cuz of the price confusion

but $5 for a print is a good deal for a print like that
if you really liked that character why not
i see stuff similiar fantasy art , and this could pass for it
sell at the county fair for like $5-$12 people will buy it
in fact it being 9x8 i think that more the $12 range

$200 for the original i think is sort of bordering on outrageous, but like talbona said she really dont wanna sell it anyway
or that it has personal meaning because it took a long time to draw
well whatever

i dont see whats so nc-17 or r-rated about it tho

I already hang out at yerf, but i wanted to by some art for my bedroom walls as their a bit bare...

I don't like putting up my own stuff so i want some decent art to put up...

I find the sea side pic a bit awful because it offends my sense of anatomy :P if I did something that bad, i'd bin it.

Awww, it's not that bad. It's a bit off, but the poor girl's trying. She may not be nearly as gifted an artist as some but I'd hardly say this is a bin-worthy pic. For instance, it's already head and shoulders above most furry pics in that a) she's mastered the art of getting the eyes to point in the same general direction so as to give the impression that the character's actually looking at something, b) she colors inside the lines, and c) there aren't any giant dick nipples. I think she just needs some love and encouragement and she could be the next artist of great magnitude.

The "dick nipple" thing originally came from a Hentai pic featuring, um, dicks instead of nipples. I had the misfortune to see it recently on a forum, but needless to say I didn't save a copy and neither can I remember the link.

Well I suppose she is trying but I wouldn't have tried to sell anything when I was at her stage. And yes I would bin it but thats just me, i tend to throw away like 70% of pictures I do.

*chuckles* Jealous? moi? I don't think so...I'm more suprised these people can justify those prices...there's only a few artists I who make me feel jealous and most of them wouldn't be caught dead near furbid or have like a $90 minimum commission...I hope I can match some of my heroes one day....though getting paid $200 for a pic would be fun...then again I'd have to sacrifice some of my artists scruples to get that much :P

If you're jealous of people getting huge commissions for their drawn/painted art, then check out the prices people get for well carved pipes. Some nail over $2000(US) for ONE freehand carve and the materials cost about $50 to start with.

And just because I'm curious, if any of the regulars are good carvers, check into meerschaum pipes and see what they do every day by hand in Turkey. Now for a really good anthropomorphic character carve, I'd probably pay $500 or better for in meerschaum, but good luck getting any. Turkey forbids it as a raw export.

Oooh, evil thought. Maybe I should commission a spooge scene from a good furry artist and have a Turkish carver make me a pipe based on it and smoke that at a convention. Oh the looks I'd get from anti-smoking nazis in furry.

*snickers* I think someone should take a look at how well I draw, I'm considered a semi-professional illustrator.

I couldn't care how much they get paid..I just can't understand what makes anyone set a $100 price on something I would have just binned as a failure, I've very picky about my artwork, I feel they're trying to cheat the customer by charging such high prices for shoddy work.

I already did Jer, guess you missed the link ;)

though it's mostly sketchwork for now, I still haven't got around to figuring out how to scan all of my large color work. That and I need to deepen and broaden my range.

Well, you want to make sure your hunny-pot is MIMC (mint in mint condition). That ensures your phucktoy is a virgin. :?

I think furry has come to embody the phrases "A fool and his money are soon parted" and "There's a sucker born every minute."
