The backlash promises to be pure hilarity.

*cries*

<...>

There are dozens, if not hundreds of us who've been sitting around, waiting for details of the subscription service so we could help keep the SA we've grown so quickly to love, afloat. Nice payback, CC.
(And really good timing with loadsa people at FC just now, too).

> While we are sure that there are some users who may disagree with this, what all of our users will be getting in return is much more beneficial.

"all"?? Sorry, but you cannot speak for "all" of us?

I'm sure the majority of users will still be happy and thankful to use the system.
But narking off your other dedicated supporters by diktat and only stressing the "positives" to gloss over/ignore the hurt (if not, feeling of betrayal given many have also cut their ties with DA) ain't a sign of good business awareness.

Pulling in "customers" under "false pretences" is never smart.

With greatest admiration and respect for what you, the other techs and mods have managed to achieve in such a short space of time...

*changes page color scheme to black*

Yeah, man. I'm pouring a full 40 onto the ground with you. Well... not a full 40. More like... what was left in it after last weekend. Totally unfair. Hurt, betrayal. The Cure and Morissey.

A bit of a bold move on Sheezy's part, I must say. But considering the fact I was never a part of Sheezy and only really saw like one, two, users' art on Sheezy, this affects me ... *punches number into TI-85* next to zilch.

If anything, it's a way for Sheezy to get rid of Ebon (and any other user they didn't like) for good. Does DA still allow adult art?

How much non-furry adult art is there on those sites? Furries are such spazzes that they probably just caused too much drama and they used
this tactic to kick them off.

"Adult art" has its place (furry or otherwise). I guess this is relative too though.. (as in: how adult is 'adult' )

Sheezy can do whatever they want. Its thier service. I know almost nothing about them, so I have no idea how many of thier users were uploading adult art in the first place. If it was a lot of people and they made this change then maybe it wasnt such a good idea.. otherwise it wont matter

None of these massive galleries offer anything that much different from each other.

The ones that are hard to get into like maybe that 'eatpoo' and yerf have high quality, which is a good thing. You'd want to look through them. But some people think they are elitist. Maybe they only serve to stroke egos.

Others like maybe VCL and Side7 youre going to be lost in a sea of shit.

DA is overcrowded and lots of drama.

If these sites exist just to showcase art, then they SHOULD be focused like a laser beam on whatever the owners want it to be. If its for the artists, it should be more like an APA or talent pool people can come in and find people they want (kind of like posting a resume to a job-site).

Seems most of its about egos and cliques so fuck em all. I could care less. I used to check recent uploads on yerf a couple times a week but I havent in a long time (long before this HD crash, and not for any particular reason.) same goes for a lot of these other places. Mainly I just drop in on accounts of artists I like every couple months and see if there is anything new or cool thats been added.

Built-in photoshop effects over some crusty sketch on ruled paper which has some dumb cat creature who is wearing bellbottoms and flipping off the perspective that believed to be the viewer, despite the obvious imkplications of the drawing being self aware.. is overrated.

Fixed.

It's all the same shit, too. OMG MY FURSONA IS SOO RECKLESS AND CRAZY/ZANY... PLEASE LOVE ME. LOOK, I HAVE BOTH SETS OF ORGANS - WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE? HUH, HUH? TALK TO ME! LAVISH ATTENTION UNTO MEEEEEEEEE*blorf*

I think I shall follow this up with my standard 'I don't give a shit. I could care less, but that would be effort. Let's go ride bikes!'

Adult and adult are different things...

One of our goals with Sheezy Art is to make it a family friendly website. We want all people of all ages to be able to visit Sheezy Art and have an enjoyable and rewarding experience. In doing this, we are going to have to make some changes to the art we currently accept. As of January 16th, 2005, Sheezy Art will not longer accept or display adult art. This does not include mature art, and does not include art that contains tasteful nudity.

That sounds fair enough... and will, of course, allow for a lot of drama-rama about what exactly constitutes "adult" art. Maybe it's just a euphemism for porn...

...so much so with Furry related shit..

God, some things can't even begin at NC17. I think some fetishes alone call for euthanization; and the rest... well, at least have they spayed and neutered.

Once again, the furry community distinguishes itself as a collective bunch of douchebags with all the "protest" art and OMG SLITTING MY WRISTS NOW FOR REAL drama-journals. Not to say that this is exclusive to the furries, because it isn't, but they are by far the most vocal group about this.

My favorite artists on Sheezy, most of whom draw adult art, are simply posting "Here's where you'll find my stuff next" type entries with links to where I can stalk them next.

In all truthfulness, I don't think DA ever did allow adult 'art'. They allow mature art(which should be art firstly, mature second), but specifically state in the context of their rules that yiff, yaoi and a host of other anime porn is not allowed. Granted, this is also the website where you can upload your desktop, an icon or basically anything as 'art'. The best selling prints there aren't the most artistic, but one that have fluffy kittens and/or blood.

The problem? Serious artists getting strangled out by 13-year-olds with mommy's credit card.

What a glorious time to be alive.

Ah, a nice summary, there, of the OMFGANGST!!11 this is causing.

Personally, I don't care for sheezy (simply because they were, are, and always will be a Deviantart ripoff, down to their site layout.)

It's really confusing to me that Sheezyart has banned mature (hah, truly "mature" artwork wouldnt have nipples the size of great britain as it's justification) art, as it was originally set up by Grave (a whelp who likes to draw massively obese animals and photoshop himself badly into the matrix) to allow furries a greater amount of freedom in their posting of undeveloped sexual stimulants.
They're trying to become "family orientated" now.
An opposition forms to the system, and then the opposition becomes the system, like a geek sovietism.

I almost have to wonder if some of the motivation for this came from having to deal with the likes of he-who-photoshops-wolf-cocks-and-shall-not-be-named angsting it up when they try to draw the line somewhere. Give furries an inch and they take a mile. So, maybe they figure it's easier to not even give them an inch. Sort of:

"Y'know what? Fuck all of y'all. If you can't play nice, you can go sit in separate corners and play by yourselves. You see, kids, this is why we can't have nice things!"

I think that may be part of it, but I also think it has to do with the sudden burst of popularity going to their heads and making them think about being the next DeviantArt. They know if they are to get that big and still allow adult artwork, fanart, and of course the one-two punch of adult fanart, then they won't be able to keep it up indefinetly. They would be receiving cease and desist letters from parents and corporations left and right, evenetually getting sued, investigated and/or taken down.

That's why art sites need to be more focused in what content they allow. If Sheezy keeps the adult art off their site, then the only advantage they have over DA is that, unlike DA, they aren't slow as shit on a cold day to browse.

It's hilarious watching them run around like headless chickens.

"ZOMG i can't post porn on a free art site! boo hoo hoo..."

And speaking of furry forum drama, I have a nice juicy quote from deviantArt regarding an artist that made art out of dead mice:

"In my opinion, no human has the right to ever kill an animal, no matter what it is or why. Personaly i would ratehr kill a human than an animal, as i feel they deserve it more, especialy for stuff like this."

I should've gotten a screenshot of it.
